Elena Ceausescu

Elena Ceausescu was the Deputy Prime Minister of communist Romania and the wife of the countries' last communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu. After the China trip in 1971 Elena met the wife of Mao Zedong Jiang Qing and saw she had a power in her own right. During Ceausescu's dictator like leadership Elena was given the post of deputy prime minister. At first when Ceausescu enforced his personality cult on Romania he was included on his own but by the late 1980s Elena was included as well as was known as "The mother of the nation." Her influence was finally erased when she and her husband were executed. The charcater Elena is named after her
